Tachographs must be installed and used in vehicles within the scope of Regulation (EC) No 561/2006 (Article 3), digital tachographs must perform defined functions including speed, distance and driver-activity monitoring (Article 5), record vehicle position at defined points using a satellite system (Article 8), and support remote early detection of manipulation for targeted roadside checks (Article 9).",
