It establishes the context for each AI system - its intended use, deployment environment, affected stakeholders, and the categories of risk that apply. MAP must be completed before MEASURE or MANAGE can be executed. Without MAP, AI risk assessments are acontextual and unreliable. MAP is specifically required by the EU AI Act (Article 9 conformity assessment), ISO 42001 (Clause 6.1 risk identification), and the US NIST AI RMF Playbook as the entry point for all downstream risk management activities.",
