Compliance Node Overview
MITRE ATT&CK T1567.002 (Exfiltration to Cloud Storage) is an Enterprise Exfiltration sub-technique of T1567 (Exfiltration Over Web Service). Adversaries may exfiltrate data to a cloud storage service rather than over their primary command and control channel. Cloud storage services allow for the storage, edit, and retrieval of data from a remote cloud storage server over the Internet. Examples of cloud storage services include Dropbox and Google Docs. Exfiltration to these cloud storage services can provide a significant amount of cover to the adversary if hosts within the network are already communicating with the service. Affected platforms: Linux, macOS, Windows. MITRE-documented mitigations include M1021 Restrict Web-Based Content. The Center for Threat-Informed Defense maps this technique to NIST SP 800-53 Rev 5 controls AC-02, AC-03, AC-04, AC-06, AC-16, AC-20, AC-23, CA-03.
