What Canada Quarantine Act - Communicable Disease Controls at Points of Entry requires
Canada's Quarantine Act (S.C. 2005, c. 20) aims to prevent the introduction and spread of communicable diseases. Section 15(2) requires a traveller who has reasonable grounds to suspect they have a listed communicable disease to disclose that fact to a screening or quarantine officer; section 16 allows isolation pending assessment; section 22 allows a quarantine officer to require a medical examination; and section 67(2) sets fines up to $1,000,000 or imprisonment up to three years for wilfully or recklessly causing a risk of death or serious bodily harm.
