What Regulation (EU) 2018/1807 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14 November 2018 on a framework for the free flow of non-personal data in the European Union requires
This Regulation ensures the free flow of data other than personal data within the EU by prohibiting data localisation requirements unless justified on grounds of public security and proportionate (Articles 1 and 4). It preserves the powers of competent authorities to access data for official purposes (Article 5), encourages self-regulatory codes of conduct to facilitate the porting of data between service providers (Article 6), and requires each Member State to designate a single point of contact for cooperation (Article 7).
