This standard establishes a system of radiation protection for all facilities and activities giving rise to radiation risks, requiring the application of justification, optimization (ALARA), and dose limitation principles. Per Schedule III, the effective dose for occupational exposure shall not exceed an average of 20 mSv per year over five consecutive years and shall not exceed 50 mSv in any single year.
