What Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production and Stockpiling of Bacteriological (Biological) and Toxin Weapons and on Their Destruction requires
The BWC prohibits state parties from developing, producing, stockpiling, acquiring, or retaining biological agents or toxins of types and in quantities that have no justification for peaceful purposes, under Article I. It applies to all signatory states and their governmental, military, and biotechnological institutions.
