US 16 CFR Part 313 implements the privacy provisions of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) Title V Subtitle A for financial institutions subject to FTC jurisdiction (e.g., mortgage brokers, payday lenders, tax preparers, debt collectors, non-bank lenders). Covered institutions must provide an initial privacy notice to consumers and customers, deliver annual privacy notices to customers (subject to exceptions for institutions that do not share NPI outside specified exceptions), provide opt-out notice and right before sharing non-public personal information (NPI) with non-affiliated third parties, and reuse and redisclosure limitations on NPI received from other financial institutions.
