The Trade Expansion Act of 1962, Public Law 87-794 of 11 October 1962, codified at Title 19 of the United States Code, Chapter 7 (Trade Expansion Program), is the principal federal statute establishing the Presidential authority to conduct tariff negotiations and the national security imports safeguard, and is administered by the Office of the United States Trade Representative and the Department of Commerce.
