Regulation (EU) 2024/1689 applies in general from 2 August 2026, but under Article 113, point (b), Chapter V obligations for providers of general-purpose AI (GPAI) models apply from 2 August 2025, and under Article 111(3) providers of GPAI models placed on the market before 2 August 2025 must take the necessary steps to comply by 2 August 2027. Note that in the final adopted text, Article 102 is an amendment to Regulation (EC) No 300/2008 (aviation security); the GPAI application timeline is established by Article 113 read with Article 111(3).
