What EU General Product Safety Regulation 2023/988 (GPSR) - Consumer Product Safety requires
Regulation (EU) 2023/988 (GPSR) replaces the General Product Safety Directive 2001/95/EC and extends EU consumer product safety rules to online marketplace operators and direct-to-consumer sales from outside the EU. All consumer products placed on the EU market must be safe; manufacturers must conduct risk assessments, maintain technical documentation, issue safety declarations, and register high-risk products in the Safety Gate portal. Online marketplaces must implement safety checks and cooperate with market surveillance authorities. Applies from 13 December 2024.
