This regulation requires vehicle manufacturers to implement a certified Software Update Management System (SUMS) to ensure the safety, security, and integrity of over-the-air (OTA) software updates. Manufacturers must obtain a Certificate of Compliance for their SUMS as a prerequisite for vehicle type approval, as mandated by Paragraph 7.
