Prohibits mergers and acquisitions where the effect may be substantially to lessen competition or tend to create a monopoly, as defined under Section 7 of the Clayton Act (15 U.S.C. § 18). Applies to any person, corporation, or entity engaged in commerce that proposes an acquisition meeting the size-of-person and size-of-transaction thresholds under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act.
