What US Robinson-Patman Act of 1936 (15 USC 13) - Price Discrimination Prohibition requires
The Robinson-Patman Act of 1936 amended Section 2 of the Clayton Act to prohibit sellers from discriminating in price between different purchasers of commodities of like grade and quality where the effect may be to substantially lessen competition or to create a monopoly, and prohibited the receipt of a knowingly induced discriminatory price, the payment of brokerage fees to a buyer or its agent, and the provision of promotional allowances or services on terms not proportionally available to all competing customers, with defenses available for cost justification, meeting competition, and changing market conditions.
